On May 18, Cahul hosted a bright sports festival, the EU4Cahul Marathon - Aleargă pentru TINEri. Hundreds of participants entered the start line to show solidarity and run for the sake of peace and well-being of the young generation.
EU4Cahul Marathon – Aleargă pentru TINEri is on its third edition. It is a part of the program for celebrating the Europe Day in Moldova. The races are held within the framework of the program "EU4Moldova: Key Regions", funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP and UNICEF. The organizer of the races is the sports club Sporter.
The event was originally conceived as an initiative that would bring together different people - professionals and amateur runners, children, young and mature people, all those who appreciate a healthy lifestyle and sports. The goal was brilliantly achieved.
Every year EU4Cahul Marathon becomes more and more popular. This time the sports festival gathered hundreds of participants, many of whom came from other regions. People of different ages, social status and sports training gathered in the southern capital of Moldova for a common idea: promoting an active lifestyle and supporting the youth.
Participation in EU4Cahul is free of charge. Everyone chose the distance according to their own shoulder: 2 km, 5 km or 10 km. At the finish line all participants were waiting for the finisher's medals of honor, and the fastest were awarded with cups, diplomas and gift certificates to a sportswear store.

In addition to the actual races, the programme was complemented by a cultural part.
During EU4Cahul, creative groups performed for athletes and supporters, and after crossing the finish line and awarding the winners, the Europe Day festivities continued with a crafts exhibition, a concert and a grand light show.
