









Chessinau Kids Open (U16) is a chess tournament for children and teenagers under 16, organized with the support of the Chess Federation of Moldova.
The event combines the friendly atmosphere of an amateur competition with the discipline of official tournaments, giving every participant the chance to experience the excitement of a real chess event, regardless of skill level.
Terms, Dates, and Location of the Tournament
The tournament will be held according to FIDE rules, using the Swiss system, in 7 rounds.
Time control: 10 minutes + 5 seconds per move.
Evaluation: The tournament is not rated by FIDE and does not require federation membership.
📍 Venue: Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova (ASEM), 61 Mitropolit Bănulescu-Bodoni Street, Chișinău.
📅 Date: October 11, 2025
🕘 Arrival time: between 09:00 and 09:25
🔸 Opening ceremony: 09:45
🔸 Start of competition: 10:00
To confirm participation, children must arrive within the specified time and present an identity document (birth certificate, ID card, or passport).
The maximum number of participants is 100.

Registration and Fee
💸 Participation fee: 400 MDL, payable online at sporter.md.
Confirmation of participation must be done at the tournament venue on the day of the event, before 09:30.
Players who fail to confirm on time will be excluded from the pairing.

Prizes and Awards
Winners will be determined by the total number of points earned.
In case of a tie, the following tiebreak criteria will apply:
Head-to-head result – outcome of the game between tied players.
Buchholz (-1) – the sum of opponents’ scores, minus the lowest result.
Berger system – takes into account the strength of opponents based on their total points.
Progress – bonus points awarded for consistent performance throughout the tournament.

🥈 2nd place — 1000 MDL
🥉 3rd place — 800 MDL
Cash Prizes – Girls (U16)
🥇 1st place — 1200 MDL

🏆 Winners of 1st place will also receive trophies.
For the U10 category, the top 3 boys and top 3 girls will receive diplomas and symbolic gifts.

🎁 Each participant will receive a Chessinau Kids pin, symbolizing their participation in the event.
📸 Participation implies parental consent for the use of photos and videos for promotional purposes.
